Today’s Bible Slice for November 14: Ezra 10, Hosea 11, Colossians 2

Retell Your Story – Chris Stapper

The first issue of our podcast, Chris shares how God retold his story and gave him a new path after high school.

Today’s Bible Slice

Check this out…YouVersion.com is an excellent online Bible site that has a ton of translations, a way to jot down thoughts whilst you read, and a great iPhone/iPod touch app for you mobile types.  YouVersion also has a plan to read the entire Bible in 1 year by reading a slice of 3 different books each day.

To make things as accessible as possible, I’m going to attempt to post these daily bible slices here on authenticyouth.com and then send them to my twitter and facebook accounts.  That way you can wake up in the morning, and be reminded to stop and read a few verses before you head to school.  So stay tuned and watch my facebook or twitter status.

Turkey Bowl

Yes, that is the official logo for the Turkey Volleyball Federation, which is the governing body for all things related to the most exciting event happening on a Sunday in November this side of the Trinity River.

Turkey Bowl is coming, and this year, the turkeys will be gobbling about Volleyball.  You can sign up your team by filling out the form below or printing off this form and turning it in to the Authentic Youth office.

The games start 3pm on Sunday, November 30 at The ROC.  Winners get to go on Winter Retreat for half-price.  Find 5 friends, and form a team.  Pick your name, and start making jerseys.  And we’ll see you at Turkey Bowl.

No more submissions accepted at this time.

Engage

The polls are in, and the First Wednesday of the month is here again! Let’s reach across the aisle, and join together at the ROC for Engage featuring Branch. Cast your ballot for Jesus beginning at 6:30PM. Afterwards, we’ll share the wealth with Rounder’s Pizza. Don’t miss out on Engage at First Baptist Church.

Don’t forget to invite a friend!

Free Dr. Pepper

Earlier this year, the fine folks at Dr. Pepper announced that they would give every person in America a free Dr. Pepper if Axl Rose released the long-delayed album Chinese Democracy.  It seems that the wonderful soda from Waco has pushed Mr. Rose over the edge; the CD will be released November 23.  If you register online with Dr. Pepper, you will receive a coupon good for 1 free 20oz soda.  Not too shabby.

Bye Bye Beckham

If you weren’t able to see David Beckham this summer, you might have missed your chance.  According to The Sports Network, the buzzed Brit is close to landing a deal with AC Milan in order to help his bid for a spot on the English World Cup Team.  He hasn’t been able to help his team make the playoffs, and I can’t imagine that he enjoys being a footnote in the American sporting universe.

What are you doing?

In another exciting attempt to watch trends and see what’s popular, I’m trying to explore the universe of Twitter (or Twitterverse).  You can follow me and stay up to date on all of the exciting things I do as a youth minister in Athens, Texas! Yea!

Catalyst Conference

I’m in Atlanta right now for Catalyst.  Over the next two days, I’ll get to hear some of the best preacher-types in all of America, and I’ll get to sing along with Steve Fee.  This conference is for next generation leaders from all across the world, they do so much cool stuff.  I’ll be back on Friday night, so I will see you on Sunday morning as we continue the Road Signs series.
